Red light therapy

A mitogen is a chemical substance, usually a protein, that induces a cell to begin cell division: mitosis. Mitogenesis is the induction (triggering) of mitosis, typically via a mitogen.

In cell biology, mitosis is a part of the cell cycle when replicated chromosomes are separated into two new nuclei. Cell division gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the number of chromosomes is maintained.

Put simply MitoGEN stands for Mitochondria regeneration

What is Photobiomodulation?

Dr Charles Czeisler of Harvard Medical School showed in 1981 that full-spectrum sunlight keeps a person’s internal biological clock aligned with the environment. If it is out of sync, the body’s processes are out of sync. Sunlight contains all the right information (frequencies) for health and longevity. It keeps the body’s intricate mechanics and internal clock in sync with the natural environment – critical for wellbeing.

When we are outdoors most of the time, our body and eyes correctly interpret this photonic information to stay healthy. When indoors and receiving photons from man-made devices and lighting, we interpret this as mis-information and set ourselves up for poorer health.

Photobiomodulation is the term used to describe the application of light to the body for treatment of an ailment.

MitoGen light therapy devices supplement the beneficial red and near infra-red wavelengths of natural sunlight. If you can’t find the time to see the morning or afternoon sun, when red and near infra-red light is most available, then MitoGen therapy is your plan B.

Speed up Wound Healing: PBM therapy has been found to help close wounds, even those resistant to healing, 20% faster and with less scarring. PBM therapy has also been proven to reduce the appearance of facial scars – Vranovaet al. (2015)

Increase Bone Healing: Studies on animals and humans have found that red and near-infra-red light therapy greatly aids in healing breaks, fractures and bone defects – Kazem Shakouri S et al. (2010)

Combat inflammation: PBM therapy is highly effective in treating chronic inflammation. It suppresses inflammation and production of inflammatory cytokines, and dramatically reduces inflammation throughout the body. Studies have even shown that PBM therapy can have anti-inflammatory effects on par with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s) – Cotler et al. (2015)

Gut Health: “It has been demonstrated for the first time that PBM can alter microbiome diversity and increase numbers of Allobaculum, a bacterium associated with a healthy microbiome.” – Bicknell, B. et all (2018). This indicates the power PBM therapy has in improving gut flora, strengthening gut brain axis and positively affecting obesity and general health.

Improve Joint Health and Combat Arthritis: Studies have shown that PBM can help people with Arthritis, it does this through 4  primary mechanisms: Decreasing pain, Modulating inflammation, increasing circulation to the area and stimulating wound healing – Hamblin, M. et al (2013)

Improved Sleep Quality: Melatonin has an important role in promoting sleep. Studies found that exposure to PBM therapy dramatically increased Melatonin.
